The Days of the Tresher - Dungannon Vintage Club
The bright september sunshine brought a large crowd of spectators and exhibitors to the old Caulfield Road outside Dungannon to witness the second annual rally of machines and tools from bygone days. The ancient art of cutting corn with a scythe is skillfully demonstrated as well as the hand tying, stooking and ofcourse threshing. There is also an abundance of tractor pulled cutting implements including a 1926 Cowley cut down, which in early times was used as a tractor and car. Tobermore man Kevin Murphy shows off his large collection of rare old arming implements including corn fiddles and turf spades. As well as the cars and tractors there is also a good selection of vintage lorries, some dating back to the 1950's. A chainsaw/log splitting demonstration attracted alot of interest. The dog show was a colourful event and another big attraction on the day were country singing stars Kenny Paul and Ina Logan.Songs inlcuded are the "Good Old Days", "An Irish Harvest Day", "The Old Threshing Mill", "The Gambler", "Convoy" and many others.
